What's the difference between best bets and projections? How is the sim model incorporated into Best Bets?

Best Bets is a smaller subset of ShotQuality plays that incorporate the simulation model.

ShotQuliatyBets Projections uses Points of Value (POV) to determine the what is a Play.

Points of Value (POV) is the difference between the ShotQuality projection and the lines. For example:

If ShotQuality projects the total to be 120pts and the line is 110pts then there are 10 POV on the totals bet.

If ShotQuality projects the home team to score 110 points and the away team to score 100 points and the spread is home team -5 then there are 5 points of value.

Play are locked based on the schedule below.

League Plays Lock At (EST) Points of Value (POV) Threshold
NCAA 9pm est the night prior >= 4 spreads, >=5 totals
NBA 1am est the day of >= 4
WNBA 9am est the day of >= 3

A locked Play is a play that reflects in the ShotQualityBets record.

Projections are based on the winning NCAA model from prior seasons.

Best Bets is a smaller subset of Premium Picks which uses inputs from the Simulation model to inform it's decisions.
